Our Areas of Practice

Criminal Defense · Family Law · Injuries · Real Estate · Wills

At the New Jersey law firm of Koufos & Norgaard, LLC, our legal practice encompasses both civil and criminal law. We are known statewide as intelligent attorneys who are not afraid of a good fight.

We are happy to answer your questions about any of the following types of legal matters. Contact us to make an appointment at one of our two New Jersey offices, in Long Branch or New Brunswick.

Criminal Law

The first important question a criminal defendant asks is usually, "What should I do after an arrest?" One of the first things anyone should do after an arrest or citation is seek legal advice. The lawyers at Koufos & Norgaard handle both misdemeanor and felony crimes, including DWIs, traffic violations, sex crimes, violent crimes, and defense of murder or homicide charges. We also represent clients in criminal appeals and applications for criminal record expungement.

Family Law

The most common family law questions have to do with divorce and divorce procedures. We negotiate and litigate all aspects of divorce cases, including child custody and support, property division and alimony. In addition, we provide premarital advice on prenuptial agreements and help clients with domestic violence problems.

Injuries and Accidents

Our firm represents victims of both physical and financial injuries, including accidents of all kinds up to and including wrongful death cases. We also advise and counsel victims of employment discrimination and civil rights violations.

Real Estate Transactions and Litigation

We represent real estate buyers or sellers in both residential closings and commercial transactions. We also give legal guidance to purchasers of new residential construction. We provide legal counsel to local condominium associations, and we provide advice about like-kind real estate transactions (also known as 1031 exchanges).

Estate Planning and Probate

In our estate planning and probate practice, we write dependable wills and trusts for individuals and families — to help protect their assets and medical decision-making power.
