John G. Koufos specializes in litigation matters and has appeared in nearly every Superior Court in New Jersey and has argued before the Appellate Division. He is Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Criminal Trial Attorney. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. Mr. Koufos began his legal career as the Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Edward M. Oles, J.S,C., in the New Jersey Superior Court (Ocean Vicinage).

Mr. Koufos graduated summa cum laude from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 2000. At John Jay College, Mr. Koufos was enrolled in the prestigious B.A. / M.A. Outstanding Scholar Program. Mr. Koufos earned his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, a nationally ranked top-tier law school. He was an Associate Editor on Fordham's nationally renowned Moot Court Board, and received the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award for his zealous and successful defense of indigent defendants in New York County Criminal Courts.

He has taught classes for the New Jersey Bar Association Young Lawyers Division ("How to Handle a Criminal and Municipal Court Case"), and is an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Law and Adjunct Professor of Legal Writing and Research at Fairleigh Dickinson University. While some lawyers try a few cases per year, Mr. Koufos has conducted three jury trials in three separate counties in thirty days, achieving two completed acquittals (the third case settled during jury selection). He has challenged illegal searches and seizures, arrest procedures, wiretapping and electronic surveillance, and a multitude of evidence issues.

Mr. Koufos has zealously handled a variety of personal injury and employment discrimination cases, including wrongful death, car accidents, slip and falls, wrongful terminations, defamations, and sexual harassment claims. Like all attorneys at Koufos & Norgaard, he prepares every case for trial to ensure that his clients receive the highest level of service.

Mr. Koufos is a fearless advocate for his clients who meticulously studies his adversary's case as he forms his battle plan. He has earned a statewide reputation for trial victories which makes him effective in settlement negotiations since his adversaries knows that there will be war at trial.
